The truth is that most churches do a poor job of preparing teens for the attacks on their faith that the world will bring against them because we are worried too much that youth enjoy church. Thus, we too often keep it fun, lite, and experiential at the expense of intellectual depth. In college these same young adults often “out grow” the faith of their parents because they are challenged to think deeply in ways they were never challenged in church.
In the podcast available at WhiteHorseInn.org (linked below), we hear how some ministries and churches are answering the call to prepare young adults to face the challenges against their faith, and how the results of going deeper with teens is more (not less) excitement about Christ and their faith. I am thankful that this has been Live Oak’s approach for many years. Enjoy!
